학교에서부터 전시 장소인 Sunnybrook Art Center까지 약 4시간 반을 걸어가면서 촬영하고 수집한 사진들과 영상들을 차례로 나열해 설치했던 작업입니다. 전시장의 풀들은 성인 키 만큼 높고 무성했고, 설치 내내 쐐기풀하고 사투를 벌였던 기억이 있습니다. 전시 장소는 라이프치히 시내에서 상당히 떨어진 곳에 위치하고 접근하기가 쉽지는 않은 곳입니다. 이런 물리적 거리는 자신의 작업에 어떤 영향들을 미치는가에 대한 생각을 하게 만들었습니다. 가는 길에서 조우하는 우연들은 그 장소에 대한 기억과 연결 형성됩니다. 전시장에는 걸은 거리를 대략적으로 축소해서 길을 만들고 그 길 위에 모두 7개의 작업을 설치했습니다.

그곳에 방문하는 것은 마치 탐험을 하러 가는 느낌이 들더군요. 그런 장소를 가는 과정을 촬영했습니다. 최종 장소는 영상 작업에선 보여주지 않습니다. 거기는 도대체 어디일까. 궁금할 뿐입니다. 단지 저는 걸어서 찾아가는 길을 촬영할 뿐입니다. 가는 길에 발견한 물건들을 그리고 도착한 그곳에서 발견한 물건들을 촬영해보고, 도착한 곳에서는 흙을 파내서 가져오기도 합니다. 어느덧 다시 떠나야하는 여정 속에선 담아왔던 그 흙으로 방향을 표시하는 마크를 그려보기도 했습니다, 그럴 때 그 공간은 상상으로 펼쳐집니다.

This is an installation work that sequentially displays photos and videos that I took and collected while walking from school to the exhibition venue, Sunnybrook Art Center, for about 4 and a half hours. The grass in the exhibition hall was as tall and lush as an adult, and I remember fighting with nettles throughout the installation. The exhibition hall is located quite far from downtown Leipzig and is not easy to access. It made me think about how this physical distance affects my work. The coincidences I encountered along the way are connected to my memories of that place. In the exhibition hall, I made a path that roughly scaled down the distance I walked and installed a total of 7 works on the path.
Visiting there feels like going on an expedition. I film the process of going to that place. The final location is not shown in the video work. Where on earth is that place? I just film the path I walk to. I film the things I find along the way, the things I find there. I dig up the dirt and bring it back. I draw a map to that dirt, and I imagine that space.

Diese Arbeit entstand während eines etwa viereinhalbstündigen Fußmarschs von meiner Hochschule bis zum Ausstellungsort, dem Sunnybrook Art Center.
Während des Gehens habe ich Fotografien und Videoaufnahmen gesammelt, die später in der Ausstellung in zeitlicher Reihenfolge installiert wurden.

Das Gelände des Ausstellungsorts war von mannshohen, üppig wachsenden Gräsern überwuchert – ich erinnere mich daran, wie ich während der gesamten Installation mit Brennnesseln zu kämpfen hatte.
Der Ort liegt relativ weit außerhalb des Leipziger Stadtzentrums und ist nicht leicht zugänglich.
Diese physische Distanz brachte mich zum Nachdenken darüber, welchen Einfluss räumliche Entfernung auf die eigene künstlerische Praxis haben kann.

Die zufälligen Begegnungen und Beobachtungen auf dem Weg dorthin verknüpfen sich nachträglich mit der Erinnerung an den Ort.
Im Ausstellungsraum habe ich eine verkleinerte Wegstrecke nachgebildet und entlang dieses Pfads sieben Arbeiten installiert.

(b.1992) approaches space as a site of sensory and emotional experience, exploring the invisible identities and emotional narratives embedded within it. Through photography and video, she captures fragmented images, marginalized perspectives, and remnants of historical memory. Her work reinterprets the identity of space and its sensory landscapes, reconstructing them through mixed media and installation formats. Her exhibitions include the group exhibitions «We,We,We and We»(2024, Runde Ecke, Leipzig), «Walk on the Carpet» (2024, Gewandhaus, Leipzig), «Orthodox X Orthodox» (2023, Seongbuk Art Center, Seoul), «Digging the Earth» (2023, Sunnybrook Art Center, Leipzig), «In the Middle Line: So that We Can See Each Other» (2021, RASA, Seoul). Her solo exhibitions include «Space, Folded Feeling» (2021, Plast). She is currently studing her diploma in the class 'Installation and Space' under Professor Joachim Blank at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig.

Dayoung Jung (*1992) betrachtet den Raum als einen Ort sinnlicher und emotionaler Erfahrung und erforscht die darin eingebetteten unsichtbaren Identitäten und emotionalen Narrative. Durch Fotografie und Video fängt sie fragmentierte Bilder, marginalisierte Perspektiven und Spuren historischer Erinnerungen ein. Diese transformiert sie in Mixed-Media- und Installationsformate, um die Identität von Räumen und deren sinnliche Landschaften neu zu interpretieren. Zu ihren bedeutenden Ausstellungen gehören die Gruppenausstellungen «We,We,We and We»(2024, Runde Ecke, Leipzig), «Walk on the Carpet» (2024, Gewandhaus, Leipzig), «Orthodox X Orthodox» (2023, Seongbuk Art Center, Seoul), «Digging the Earth» (2023, Sunnybrook Art Center, Leipzig), «In the Middle Line: So that We Can See Each Other» (2021, RASA, Seoul).
