‘나는 그 집을 기억한다. 그 집이 내 기억 속의 유일한 집은 아니지만, 나는 그 집을 특별하게 생각한다. 집을 상상하면, 수원에 내가 태어나서 지금까지 존재하는 그 집이 떠오른다. 내 유년기 시절과 청소년 시절의 모든 기억을 가지고 있는 곳.
어른이 되어서도 내가 한국으로 가면 있을 그 곳(2024, 더이상 존재하지 않음). 나는 그곳에서 많은 감정을 배웠다. 나의 예술적 감각의 양분이 되는 곳. 사랑스러우면서도 안타까운 그 곳. 세월의 때가 여전한 곳. 기쁨과 설움이 가득한 곳. 가족과의 추억이 있는 그 곳. 차들이 고쳐져서 나간 곳. 아버지의 모습이 많이 떠오르는 곳. 관계를 의미하는 곳. 가족의 형태를 만들어내는 곳. 삶의 이해를 만들어내는 곳. ...’

이 작업은 집은 세상에 태어난 사람이라면 누구나 가지고 있는 공간입니다. 모두의 집들은 각자 다 다른 형태를 가지고 있고, 삶이 형성되는데 있어서 큰 영향을 미칩니다. 그곳에서 우리의 어린시절의 기억이 형성되고, 여러 관념이 형성되고, 삶의 태도가 형성됩니다. 우리는 집이라는 것을 막연히 그리워하고 또 열망하게 됩니다. 그러나 집이란 과연 무엇일까요. 어떤 요소들이 집을 집이라고 인식하게 만듭니까. 그것은 실제로 존재하는 것일까 아니면 우리의 머릿 속에 있는 그 무엇일까. 집이라는 것은 어떤 기능을 가지는가. 오늘날 집은 우리에게 어떤 공간이 되었는가. 너무나도 친숙하고 익숙한 주제인만큼 섬세하게 바라보는 관점이 필요하다고 생각합니다.

‘I remember the house. It is not the only house in my memory, but I hold it dear. When I imagine a house, I think of the one in Suwon, where I was born and which still exists to this day.(2024, no anymore) It is the place that holds all the memories of my childhood and adolescence. A place that is both lovely and bittersweet, where the marks of time remain. A place filled with joy and sorrow, with memories of family, and where cars were fixed and sent off. It’s a place that often brings back images of my father. A place that signifies relationships, that shapes the form of family, and where an understanding of life is built. It’s the place where I learned many emotions, where the essence of my artistic sensibilities was nurtured. ...’

Home is a space that every person born into the world has. Nonetheless, every home is shaped differently and has a great impact on the way life is formed. It is where our childhood memories are formed, our various notions are formed, and our attitudes towards life are formed. We are vaguely nostalgic and eager to be at home. But what is a house really? What elements make us perceive a house as a home? Does it actually exist, or is it in our minds? What functions does a house have? What kind of space has home become for us today? It is a topic that is so familiar to us that it requires a sensitive perspective to view.

Ich erinnere mich an das Haus. Es ist nicht das einzige Haus in meinem Gedächtnis, aber es ist mir sehr wichtig. Wenn ich mir ein Haus vorstelle, denke ich an das Haus in Suwon, in dem ich geboren wurde und das heute noch existiert.(2024, nicht mehr) Es ist der Ort, der alle Erinnerungen an meine Kindheit und Jugend birgt. Ein Ort, der sowohl schön als auch bittersüß ist, wo die Spuren der Zeit bleiben. Ein Ort, der mit Freude und Trauer gefüllt ist, mit Erinnerungen an die Familie und an den Ort, an dem Autos repariert und verschickt wurden. Es ist ein Ort, der oft Bilder meines Vaters hervorruft. Ein Ort, der für Beziehungen steht, der die Form der Familie prägt und an dem ein Verständnis für das Leben entsteht. Es ist der Ort, an dem ich viele Emotionen gelernt habe, an dem die Essenz meiner künstlerischen Sensibilität genährt wurde. ...

Das Zuhause ist ein Raum, den jeder Mensch hat, der auf die Welt kommt. Dennoch ist jedes Zuhause anders gestaltet und hat einen großen Einfluss auf die Gestaltung des Lebens. Es ist der Ort, an dem sich unsere Kindheitserinnerungen bilden, an dem sich unsere verschiedenen Vorstellungen bilden und an dem sich unsere Einstellung zum Leben herausbildet. Wir haben eine gewisse Nostalgie und sehnen uns danach, zu Hause zu sein. Aber was ist ein Haus wirklich? Welche Elemente sorgen dafür, dass wir ein Haus als Zuhause wahrnehmen? Existiert es tatsächlich, oder ist es nur in unseren Köpfen? Welche Funktionen hat ein Haus? Was für eine Art von Raum ist das Zuhause für uns heute geworden? Es ist ein Thema, das uns so vertraut ist, dass es eine sensible Perspektive erfordert, um es zu betrachten.

(b.1992) approaches space as a site of sensory and emotional experience, exploring the invisible identities and emotional narratives embedded within it. Through photography and video, she captures fragmented images, marginalized perspectives, and remnants of historical memory. Her work reinterprets the identity of space and its sensory landscapes, reconstructing them through mixed media and installation formats. Her exhibitions include the group exhibitions «We,We,We and We»(2024, Runde Ecke, Leipzig), «Walk on the Carpet» (2024, Gewandhaus, Leipzig), «Orthodox X Orthodox» (2023, Seongbuk Art Center, Seoul), «Digging the Earth» (2023, Sunnybrook Art Center, Leipzig), «In the Middle Line: So that We Can See Each Other» (2021, RASA, Seoul). Her solo exhibitions include «Space, Folded Feeling» (2021, Plast). She is currently studing her diploma in the class 'Installation and Space' under Professor Joachim Blank at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig.

Dayoung Jung (*1992) betrachtet den Raum als einen Ort sinnlicher und emotionaler Erfahrung und erforscht die darin eingebetteten unsichtbaren Identitäten und emotionalen Narrative. Durch Fotografie und Video fängt sie fragmentierte Bilder, marginalisierte Perspektiven und Spuren historischer Erinnerungen ein. Diese transformiert sie in Mixed-Media- und Installationsformate, um die Identität von Räumen und deren sinnliche Landschaften neu zu interpretieren. Zu ihren bedeutenden Ausstellungen gehören die Gruppenausstellungen «We,We,We and We»(2024, Runde Ecke, Leipzig), «Walk on the Carpet» (2024, Gewandhaus, Leipzig), «Orthodox X Orthodox» (2023, Seongbuk Art Center, Seoul), «Digging the Earth» (2023, Sunnybrook Art Center, Leipzig), «In the Middle Line: So that We Can See Each Other» (2021, RASA, Seoul).
